Family fun on the Hiwassee River
Located close to our outpost in the Cherokee National Forest, the Hiwassee is a designated state scenic river. The Hiwassee provides a laid-back, self-guided raft trip of about three hours, with five miles of easy Class I and II rapids flowing through a spectacular mountain gorge. This beautiful river offers a relaxing alternative to the challenging rapids of the Ocoee. On a self-guided tour you can decide if you want to paddle the whole time, sit back and float more and even stop off on some of the islands on the Hiwassee for a refreshing break.
The Hiwassee is an appropriate rafting trip for our younger guests, too. Though kiddies age six to seventeen must be accompanied with an adult 18+ or one of our guides. Minimum age: 6 years old.
