High Country Adventures has run whitewater rafting trips on the Ocoee River since 1978 when we used the Ocoee River to teach advanced whitewater kayak clinics. We fell in love with the area at that time and in 1979 we built our rafting outpost on the banks of the Ocoee River at the Hwy 64 Bridge, bought 6 rafts and then hired 6 guides and 1 bus driver. The outpost building consisted of a 200 year old log cabin that we moved from its original site nearby on Cookson Creek Road.
